Ceud mille failte! (A hundred thousand welcomes!)
Mother Nature has been very kind as of late, bestowing upon us, some spectacular blue skies, lush greenery, and lots & lots of sunshine. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones in our area this weekend, then I highly recommend that you check out the McHenry Highland Festival, which will be taking place at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. The festival kicks off this evening at Wisp Resort. The concert this year features high-spirited, foot-stomping, heart-warming Celtic roots band Burning Bridget Cleary with a guest appearance by Bonnie Rideout, world renowned Scottish fiddler, in her only appearance on stage in 2011. On Saturday, the festival continues at the Garrett County fairgrounds. There you will transform back into days of Scottish yore, where you can witness first hand Scottish games & athletic competitions, various dance performances, and hear the playing of pipes and drums. The kids will love the Celtic climbing wall, the sheep and highland cattle, and various crafts going on throughout the day. There will be various vendors pedaling their food and ware. So, if you are looking for something slightly different with promises of good time, then a weekend of Celtic celebrations might be just the activity for you. Check out McHenry Highland festival’s website for complete details. Otherwise, see you on the lake!
